This whole body workout helps direct energy in a positive way.
Because this toy is very concrete in its use, children with receptive language difficulties do not need to depend on verbal directions to be able to use this toy.
Full body movement often helps a child vocalize, from simple squeals of delight to formulating words and sentences.
This slide can be shared by a group of children with varied cognitive abilities. Maximum combined weight is 350 pounds.
Skills
Climbing, sliding and throwing baskets can help increase coordination.
Climbing and sliding can help affect proprioception (the sense of one’s body in relation to itself, muscles and joints).
Several children can play simultaneously. This can lead to social interaction, turn taking, patience, awareness of others, and negotiation.
Play Ideas

Water play can be very pleasing to the senses.
Skills
This toy offers a multisensory experience, (i.e. vestibular/proprioceptive input during movement, visual and tactile) which supports sensory processing and integration.
Improved sensory processing can help a child stay better regulated. The child is less anxious, more open to reciprocal social interactions, and more able to respond to verbal and gestural cues.
Climbing and sliding can help affect proprioception (the sense of one’s body in relation to itself, muscles and joints).
Play Ideas
Hook up your own hose to an inside water supply in order to use warm water.
The bottom pool provides a defined play space that may help some children who have attention difficulties.
Set up and take down are very quick. This helps children who have difficulty waiting or who have attention issues.

This slide can be shared by a group of children with varied cognitive abilities. Maximum combined weight is 350 pounds.
Skills
Children learn the basics of cause and effect as they pat the water and make splashes.
Problem solving skills emerge as children learn what to do if they sit on the shallow side wall and water spills out or how to climb up the wall to get to the top of the slide.
Children learn basic safety rules and remember how to follow those rules. Such rules include, but are not limited to: only slide down when sitting; only one child on the slide at a time; no pushing others down the slide, etc.
Children sequence steps to slide down: Locate the climbing wall, ready their bodies to climb, climb up slowly, sit down at the top facing the slide, push off and slide down.
Visual and cognitive processing takes place as children become aware of all areas of the water slide and where their body is in relationship to the water slide.
Encourage simple math by having the child count each time he makes a basket or slides down the slide.
Children can learn to interact with peers because the Slam N Curve Water Slide is large enough to share with friends, offering opportunities for imitation, communication and cooperation.
Action concepts, such as go/stop, up/down and in/out are explored as children play on the Slam N Curve Water Slide.
Play Ideas
Count “1-2-3 Go!” before a child slides down the slide. This helps with anticipation of movement as well as listening skills and patience.
Teach a child to gently pat the water in the shallow pool section of the water slide. Then as a child becomes comfortable with water play, make big splashes and show them how to do the same.
Add soft floaty toys to the pool section of the water slide. This may help incorporate pretend play.
The water slide is inflatable and moves with a child’s movement. This may be an issue for children who have physical limitations and require stable play.
Physical activities can help combat childhood obesity.

Grasp and timed release are practiced when shooting baskets.
Bilateral coordination is used to climb up the wall to the slide.

Climbing and sliding can help affect proprioception (the sense of one’s body in relation to itself, muscles and joints).
Whole body movements and exploration can be encouraged in the shallow pool of the water slide.
Climbing up the wall and sliding down the slide can help a child increase muscle tone, strength, endurance, postural control/core stability, bilateral coordination, timing, sequencing, and grading of movement while engaged in a playful activity.
Climbing and sliding can help improve coordination and balance.
