Zillio Mini Math Mountain promotes fundamental math skills based on two critical math concepts: times tables and number lines, and presents them in a fun, motivating manner. It is a rotating mountain consisting of twelve colorful staircases. Each staircase represents a number and its multiples with equivalent values at the same height. Play Ideas
Have your child prove their math concepts on a piece of paper to solidify their mathematical understanding of the concepts being explored.
Model higher level thinking so children learn there is more than one way to hike up the Zillio Mini Mountain. For instance, during one turn use the three dice to add and multiply – e.g. if the roll is 3, 5 and 6. Add 3+5=8; then multiply 8 by the remaining number, 6. Then move up to 48 on the 6’s mountain. Or add 5+6=11; then multiply 11x3=33 and move up to 33 on the mountain.
Play in a team and designate certain jobs to each child (such as thinker, prover and placer of foam pieces); designate according to abilities or rotate jobs each turn.
Have children prove why a multiplication fact is true by showing groupings on the step or counting individual steps to prove the larger facts.
Have children practice multiplication facts on the mountain to gain a better understanding of multiplication. Each section of the mountain can be used to practice multiplication and because the each section has grooved mini steps; children can check their own work.
Adaptation Ideas
Make up or use existing homework word problems to solve using a hands-on approach with the Mini Mountain.
Have your child practice division, multiplication, addition or subtraction facts for 5-10 minutes then play a game using one of them.

Decide ahead of time, if you encounter an idea that is not included in the directions that you will either allow all ideas not specified in the directions or not allow, or designate a person who decides the answer.
Have children play together on teams: (i.e. One person picks the algorithm (+,-, /, *) and the other do the math-then they switch.)
The Mini Mountain consists of twelve individual staircases. Have children pick a staircase that they will play on.
