Sensory 4

  • This toy offers a multisensory experience, (i.e. vestibular/proprioceptive input during movement, visual and tactile) which supports sensory processing and integration.
  • Improved sensory processing can help a child stay better regulated. The child is less anxious, more open to reciprocal social interactions, and more able to respond to verbal and gestural cues.
  • Jumping can help increase sensory awareness.

Play Ideas

  • Many children enjoy jumping.  This Jump ‘n Slide Bouncer can be used as a motivation or reward for completing a cognitive task.
  • Sing a song to your jumping beat.
  • If bouncing helps calm a child, then allow him to use the Jump ‘n Slide Bouncer when he needs to self regulate.

Physical 3

  • Performing gross motor activities on this Jump ‘n Slide Bouncer can help a child increase muscle tone, strength, endurance, postural control/core stability, bilateral coordination, timing, sequencing, rhythmicity and grading of movement while engaged in a playful activity.
  • Jumping on the Jump ‘n Slide Bouncer can help improve coordination and balance.
  • Bouncing can help improve circulation in the body.

Play Ideas

  • Encourage a child to alter, and thus control, the strength used to jump – jump softly, jump hard, jump high, jump fast, jump slow.
  • Bounce to the beat of a song (assisted or non-assisted).
  • Sing the song, “Five Little Monkeys Jumping on a Bed”.  After each monkey “falls off and bumps his head” have the child slide down the slide to “get off the bed”.

Adaptation Ideas

  • Have the child sit or lie in the Jump ‘n Slide Bouncer and gently bounce the bed of the Jump ‘n Slide Bouncer for him.

Social/Emotional 4

  • Body awareness can be felt and understood when bouncing.
  • Confidence in movement can be increased as most children are able to bounce at some level.
  • Turn taking can be promoted as kids share the bouncer with others.
  • Kids can bounce independently or with other kids to promote peer interaction.

Play Ideas

  • Jump different ways--high, slow, fast.
  • Kids can be "Simon" in a game of "Simon Says" to role model and provide directions for the other kids interacting in the bouncer.
