Product Description

Whether for sitting, standing, or any position in between, Weplay’s Whally Board is an ergonomically designed balance board. The board’s appearance was inspired by a fish, and has bubbles and waves to continue the aquatic theme of the shape. The hard plastic is textured, which allows children to find grip on the board for sitting and standing.

  • Whether used as a board or a bridge, as children step on and off the Whally Board, they are strengthening their motor planning and coordination and stability to balance.
  • As children rock back and forth, they are promoting balance skills by engaging their core muscles.
  • The Whally Board incorporates the whole body—not just the legs—and aids in the development of gross and fine motor skills such as reach and hand grasp as kids grasp the tail or head.

Play Ideas

  • Lay across the flipped over Whally Board to imitate swimming, increasing core strength as children hold the position and move arms.
  • Use the Whally Board in an obstacle course set up inside or outside as part of the activities.
  • Kids can challenge themselves and their balance to see if they can go from sitting to standing on the Whally Board and vice versa.

Adaptation Ideas

  • Use the Whally Board on carpet or on a foam pad to start for better grip!

Sensory 4

Skills

  • Performing activities on the Whally Board aids children in developing proprioception, which can lead to increased bodily awareness and coordination.
  • With waves, bumps and ridges, the textures on the brightly colored Whally Board offer a variety of physical sensations, providing opportunity to develop tactile discrimination.

Play Ideas

  • Use the rocking motion of the Whally Board during story time to increase sensory input and hone focus and attention.
  • Allow kids to rock on the Whally Board before tasks like eating dinner or doing homework to provide sensory stimulation.
